Stewdio Grave

Grave is a rigidly geometric typeface with a spooky demeanor.

The initial inspiration for Grave’s geometry came from a New England cemetery walk during the early 2000’s. (Was it Rhode Island? Connecticut?) A particular tombstone was inscribed with beautiful, condensed san-serifs—complete with the rounded majuscule A. Other influences include the end credits typeface for The Crow (not the ugly title typeface—but the actual rolling credits at the close of the film), and contemporary German signage, like the kind you might find near the Saint Vincentius Schwestern Wohnheim in Karlsruhe.

Grave includes majuscules, minuscules, numerals (both lining and text), as well as common punctuation and symbols. Currently available by special arrangement only.

Released February 2012.
